Miri Trip 2017

Hiiii!! I’m updating my blog, yay! ๐Ÿค“

We’re back from our short trip back to Miri and our lives are back to routine once again here in Perth.

We had a really splendid time back home! My bro’s wedding was amazinggggg… ๐Ÿคฉย Loved spending time with my family and meeting up with some friends! And the foooooooddddd. That itself is self-explanatory, hahahaha!!

I took heaps of photos during our trip. Mostly of the food I ate, HAHA! ๐Ÿคคย A couple of friends threatened to unfollow me on Instagram because of the food pics I posted in my stories every day. ๐Ÿ˜œ

The kids had a terrific time too. Every day was filled with warm hugs and kisses and cuddles. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜

Flying with two kids though, was EXHAUSTING. And we weren’t exactly doing long-haul flights. ๐Ÿ˜ย Our transit in Singapore was for 6 hours. We arranged this on purpose just so we could give the kids a break, feed them, change them then freshen them up for the next flight. But MAN! We were totally beat!!! We took the midnight flight to Singapore and couldn’t catch a wink at all on the plane ‘cos didi had to be taken out of the bassinet every time the seat belt sign was on and for taking off and landing. After moving him a couple of times and with him absolutely hating it, I resolved to just holding him to sleep in my arms. But I had to stay awake to make sure that he doesn’t slide off my arms and fall to the ground. ๐Ÿ˜“

The awesome thing though, was that Singapore Airlines staff and crew members were sooooooo good and accommodating. Our whole experience from queuing up at the airport for our check-in to our landing was impeccable! I don’t know if it’s because we were traveling with kids but they just made us feel so at ease traveling with kids ๐Ÿ˜Œ (except when the kids themselves are not co-operating).

Okay, next is to spam you with some photos, hehehehehe… I’ve taken more than a hundred photos back home but I’ll just selectively post some here.

Our first night back in Miri. Dinner to celebrate mum’s belated birthday!

At my brother’s church wedding ceremony.

My sister, myself and my cousin, Charlotte. Posting this ‘cos all of us looked so pretty here HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Naomi with her uncle & aunties… ๐Ÿญย Enjoying her very first lollipop!

Oh, oh, oh!! And I scored a date with Mr S one afternoon!!! My sister is a true GEM for babysitting both my kids for a couple of hours hehehehehe… It has been soooo long since we last had a date I actually felt quite shy at first HAHAHAHA!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Honestly, it’s so important to reconnect after you’ve had kids. We still managed to do movie nights when we only had Naomi as we have a few hours every night after putting her to sleep. But now that we have two kids, it’s so much harder to do so. I’m usually exhausted by 9pm and all I wanna do is climb into bed and either scroll through my phone (worst activity before bedtime by the way), read a book, or sleep.

I think Dylan’s bedtime routine is getting slightly better now though. It’s taking a shorter amount of time to settle him to sleep now so I’m finding myself some extra time to spare before bedtime. UNFORTUNATELY, Mr S got a new game from his friends for his birthday so he’s busy trying to finish the game now. Boohoo to no movie nights yet again. But hooray for spare time in updating my blog, I guess? ๐Ÿค”

Also, I finally had the chance to chop off my crazy thick hair!!! Felt soooo good and light afterwards. Gotta love short hair as it saves me costs on shampoo and conditioner and time spent on drying my hair! I wanted this length ‘cos I really like it when it’s slightly wavy but that means I’ll need to be very diligent in curling them. So far, I’ve failed miserably hahahaha! Should’ve known better! But I think a simple bob looks nice too anyway. ๐Ÿ˜

Had the opportunity to meet up with some high school friends (C Seng not pictured in here)!!! Really appreciate them making the effort to meet up. It’s been 15 years since we graduated (GASP!) and I’m very grateful that we’re still able to do this. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Last but not least, we were very blessed to have a simple early birthday celebration for Naomi!!! We had Mr S’s family come over and join us for mum’s cooked dinner. Naomi the lucky girl was showered with love, wishes and presents from everyone! ๐Ÿ˜

All in all, all of us enjoyed the trip very much! A trip to Miri is always something we look forward to. Hopefully, we’ll get to plan another trip soon!

Time for my March update!! I turned another year older last week, hehehe. And I’m blessed enough to have my whole family celebrate my birthday with me this year! ๐Ÿ˜

Since I don’t get to spend my birthday with my family very often, I decided to treat everyone to something good this year โ€” the new and luxurious Epicurean premium buffet in Crown Perth. ๐Ÿคค

Ate all the stuff I’m not supposed to! ๐Ÿ™„

With my little naughty!!!

Family portrait taken at our front lawn that morning. Matching twinsies outfit with Naomi!!! Too old to be wearing a tutu dress now to be honest so I’ve now given it to my sister, hahahaha!

My bump is also getting soooo big nowadays I already look like I’m about to pop!! ๐Ÿ˜ต

Naomi’s First Trip to Miri

Happy New Year everyone! ๐ŸŽ‰ Isn’t it scary it’s almost the end of the first month of year 2017 already? Time sure flies by faster the older you get. At least that’s how I feel, haha!

So, we headed back to Miri for fourย weeks early December last year. Naomi and I flew back by ourselves first and Mr S joined us two weeks after. With it being the first time for Naomi to fly, I couldn’t help but feel quite nervous; not knowing how she’ll behave on the flight and how I’m going to cope with the two flights and the transit in KLIA.

Then came the actual day itself. โœˆ๏ธ I had a less than satisfactory experience with the ground staff at Perth International Airport. In fact, I was sooooo disappointed at their total lack of consideration for a passenger traveling with an infant. ๐Ÿ˜ก I’m not going to elaborate on what happened ‘cos I’ve been telling this story to others so many times that I’m actually sick of it already, haha. ๐Ÿ˜ช

Taken at about 1:30AM. She was very sleepy and didn’t make much noise. Phew!! But had to carry her just as she fell asleep ‘cos strollers are not allowed on the plane and had to be placed in the cargo. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Ahhhhh, I can’t describe the sense of relief I had when she didn’t wake up as I placed her into the bassinet. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

This totally wasn’t the case on our way back to Perth though. Gosh, she was sooooo unsettled and I can’t even recall how many times I carried her to Mr S’s seat during that flight (we weren’t seated together unfortunately). I was about to go crazy on the plane. Just ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป THISSSSS close to snapping!

Had our breakfast/first meal in KLIA, Malaysia. Where else but Burger King? Hehehehehe…

On the flight back to Miri, she did a poo poo, hahahahahaha!! It was getting quite smelly but I didn’t change her ‘cos we were close to landing and I can imagine how hard it would be to change her in the teeny tiny toilet on the plane. So I left it at that HAHAHA! I’m horrible, I know. ๐Ÿ˜ย So when mum picked her up from the stroller at the airport, she actually stank. LOLLLL!!!! ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ˜‚

Ahhhh, we had such a good time back in Miri for four weeks! Four good weeks of pampering from family members, great company from relatives & friends and last but not least, the deeeeelicious fooddddd!!

I actually got to meet quite a lot of relatives and old friends this trip around, which I’mย veryย grateful for. It’s so good to see everyone again โ˜บ๏ธ

More photos from our trip back home… Enjoy! (You can click on the individual photos for a betterย view ๐Ÿ˜œ)

Strawberry Fields Forever

Last weekend, we celebrated Mr S’ birthday in advance with a couple of our close friends over dinner and strawberry picking the following morning. Had a really good time with our friends since it’s been a while since we had a get-together ๐Ÿ™‚

Argh, making myself so hungry looking at these photos again! >_<

Hungry guests!! Nom noms!

Why are babies soooo cute?!? Arghhhh!!! Kyden!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ’™ He was super guai that night compared to chichapo Naomi, lol!!

Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

But chichapo also okay, because daddy and mummy love you all the more! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿ’ย You make daddy soooo happy this year on his birthday because there’s you in our lives now! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Gross fly on baby’s face, hahahahahahahaha!!!

There were much bigger ones which I didn’t take photos of. It was quite hard to bend/squat down carrying a bag of rice in front of me. ๐Ÿ˜

Sleeping baby, WOOHOO!!

Best photobomb of the year. ๐Ÿ˜

Strawberry top to go with the strawberry theme for the day!! ๐Ÿ˜

Last but not least, an oldie to share with you all here. Enjoy!

Break for Mama Bear

Guess what? Mama bear finally got her well-deserved three-hour break today, hahahaha! Mr S finally decided to bite the bullet and agreed to stay home and babysit the baby while I head out for a high tea session with someย colleagues this afternoon.

It was great to be having adult conversations with the girls today. ๐Ÿ˜ Although our topics did steer back to parenthood still, but that’s inevitable since most of usย have kids now. I had a good time catching up with the girls and three hours flew by just like that.

Throughout the three hours there, I was checking my phone for urgent messages/calls from the husband from time to time, lol.ย But, I didn’t hear anything from him up till 1.5 hours later.

Mr S sent me this video:

They were on a swing in a park and she was fast asleep in daddy’s arms! *Melts* ๐Ÿ˜

Apparently, she didn’t eat much of her lunch, bawled her lungs out, then drank a little bit of milk. Mr S then figured that she might be tired so he took her out for a walk to a local park.

Two minutes into the swaying motion on the swing, she fell asleep, lol!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Mr S then had to ninja walk to the nearby bench and sat there, not daring to make any significant moves which might wake her. She ended up sleeping for about an hour!! Well done, daddy!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

When I finally got home, they were playing happily in the living room and she was laughing! She was well and intact (LOL!!) and they seemed to be having so much fun together, hehehe… Reckon I can have more day-off’s now? ๐Ÿ˜›

Before I sign off for tonight, recent photos and video for your viewing pleasure!!!

Out shopping for daddy with mummy today. โœŒ๐Ÿผ๏ธ

Naomi at Tea Garden

Taken this morning during breakfast!

Video taken last week during dinner. She was having pear purรฉe – her favorite thus far!

Birthday Dinner

Fine dining in the comfort of my own home last night, lol!!! Mr S was the chef for the night and I’m so proud that he prepared everything from scratch!

Loved the atmosphere last night – we were tuning in to jazzy tunes during dinner and Naomi gave mummyย andย daddy a quiet time together, sleeping through our entire dinner time, hehehe.

A big thank you to everyone who sent me your warm greetings on my birthday! Love y’all! โค

Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats

Overnight oats is my current favorite breakfastย mealย at the moment. It’s healthy, easy to make, and tastes soooo good!

June/Winter Update

Hello peeps! Yours truly have some free time on my hands tonight so why not write a blog post?

So, it’s June already! Winter is officially here. The weather’s been chillingly cold in Perth for the past few days, especially in the morning at 2-3 degree Celsius! Which makes getting out of bed soooo much harder ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I also dread stepping out of the hot shower each day. But thanks to my trusty toilet seat cover, my precious butt doesn’t have to suffer in the winter, hahahaha! ๐Ÿ˜†

Everyone close to me knows and acknowledges the fact that I have a huge appetite when it comes to food. The fact that the weather is so cold these days doesn’t help my situation at all. I’m constantly thinking about food, food, food all the time. Hence, I made THIS!

Sarawak kolomee yo!!!

*Clears throat* I’m proud to say that it was a tremendous success this time, muahahahahaha! ๐Ÿ˜€ My first attempt was kinda bleh ‘cos it turned out too dry and lacked taste. This time around, it turned out near perfect!! The noodles were homemade by a church-friend of my aunt’s friend (were you repeating that? Lol!). It was cooked with pork lard, which I made myself (not from my own fats okay, from pork fats alright hahahaha!!) and that really completed the whole dish! Would’ve scored a perfect ten if I had some barbecued pork to go with the minced meat, hahaha!

Sigh, I just get so happy when I talk about food ๐Ÿ˜›

Moving on to the next topic, Mr S and I took our pre-wedding photos last, last Sunday!!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž I did my hair & make-up trial on the same day so I can be “dolled up” for the shoot that afternoon. I can’t really say that I was entirely pleased with how I looked after the “mini makeover” as it was too heavy for my liking (I actually went home and blotted the red lipstick off as much as I could and applied a layer of nude gloss on myself). But I’m pretty sure my make-up artist can do much better! I just need to tell her what I want on the wedding day itself. I only have myself to blame because when she asked me what I liked I just said, “Anything! Anything to go with the dress I’m gonna wear later *shows dress*. What do you think? Just do whatever you think is nice.” ๐Ÿ˜ I think I should know better which look I’d prefer rather than letting her guess, lol! Anyway, fingers crossed I won’t go crazy on the wedding day itself because I end up looking super horrible LOLLL!!!

So, our photographer showed me a few photos of the lot that she took that day AND I LOOKED SOOOO ROUND AND OLD!!! Or should I rephrase, SOOOO ROUND AND MATURE!!! T_T I definitely need to photoshop ALL the photos of my round faces or else they’ll never be photo-album-worthy LOL!!! Don’t get me wrong, the photos look beautiful in general! Our photographer is so much fun to be around with and she’s been amaaaazing thus far! I just can’t stand looking at myself in photos, that’s all lol! It’s true when they say that you put on a few pounds in photos when you have foundation on! -_-”’ (I blame the foundation for making my face so round and losing all contours! LOL!) Oh, not to mention I had a really old-looking hairstyle for the photoshoot that day too ๐Ÿ˜ฆ The makeup artist curled my hair for me but I think they made me look five years older, if not ten.

ARGGHHH, I’m such a whiner. In fact, these are all excuses lol! The truth is, it’s just the way I really look right now. I’m no longer 21 but I still expect myself to look like how I looked when I was 21 -_-

My 3-Day Juice Fast with Pressed Earth

Recently I went on a three-day juice fast with Pressed Earth after reading this post written by Deborah. I was so amazed after reading about her juice-cleansing journey and got curious enough to want to try it out myself! I was ready for a detox!

I then came across Pressed Earth, founded by The Beare brothers. Pressed Earth is “your local cold-pressed juice company, offering healthy juices and multi-day juice cleanses to the people of Perth.”

It was my very first attempt at a multi-day juice cleanse program and I couldn’t decide between doing a three-day program or a six-day program with another cold-pressed juice company from Melbourne. Finally, I decided to go with Pressed Earth as supporting local businesses is always good. Plus, that means my juices will be fresher because they’re produced locally and delivered to my door within the shortest time frame.

Pressed Earth Juices

So, these were my “meals” for three days last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The juices are numbered and they recommend us to consume them in that order, but you don’t necessarily have to. But being the law-abiding citizen that I am (haha!), I went with the sequence they’ve pre-arranged for us:

  1. Greens Kale & Apple – For Iron
(granny smith apple, kale, silverbeet, cos lettuce, cucumber, celery, lemon)
  2. The Jungle –ย For Electrolytes
    (pear, pineapple, cucumber, mint)
  3. Greens Broccoli & Apple – For Strength
(granny smith apple, broccoli, cos lettuce, cucumber, celery, lemon)
  4. Appetite – For Hunger
    (lemon, pear, cayenne, mineral water)
  5. Alphabet – For Circulation
(pink lady apple, carrot, beetroot, lemon, ginger)
  6. Coco Nuts – For Recovery
    (almonds, coconut water, mineral water)

All the juices tasted good, way better than expected! My favorite was no. 2 “The Jungle” and my least favorite was no. 5 “Alphabet” as the ginger taste was really strong.

I must say that I did fairly well for those three days. I was only hungry by around 8pm every night but by then, I’d be sipping my last juice of the day “Coco Nuts” so it was alright. I wasn’t craving for food or anything. Things weren’t quite the same with Mr S though, haha! Oh yes, he did the juice cleanse with me! Mr S was super hungry even from Day 1 already!

During my Day 1, I got super gassy by around 11:30 am after my second juice. I constantly felt the need to pass gas, which wasn’t very good considering I was in the office during then, hahahahaha!!! The same goes with Day 2. By Day 3, it was much, much better.

There was not much problem with my bowel movement either. It was perfectly normal every morning for the three consecutive days. Had a little bit of diarrhea in the afternoons on the second and third day though, but it wasn’t like bad or anything.

Physical wise, I think I did lose some fats around my waist area. Unfortunately, I don’t have a scale at home so I couldn’t weigh myself before and after the juice cleanse. But, I did take some snapshots of the morning-afters.

From left to right: Morning after Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3.

I think my love handles have shrunk by a little (see bottom row). The hip bones also seemed more defined in the top right photo.

All in all, I think my juice-fast went pretty well! It’s not a vast difference but it was still evident. Plus, I felt healthy, great and so refreshed afterwards!

And well, the bad news is, my tummy has gone back to its original size if not bigger after feasting non-stop during the long weekend! LOL.

Birthday Bash!

Oh hey!! I’m in the mood to blog tonight since I just had one of the most amazing birthday celebration the last weekend!

Yours truly turned a year wiser last Sunday, hehehe… It was a long weekend here in Perth so it made my birthday even better! Pre-birthday celebration started on Saturday afternoon with a picnic with a small group of family and friends at Beelu National Park in Mundaring, hahaha! The weather was… scorching hot – it was around 38 degree Celsius when we reached!

I actually thought there would be fields of green grass and a running stream, LOL!

I must say, although there wasn’t much view/scenery where we decided to camp, the food and company was great! ๐Ÿ™‚ We had pizzas a while after at Little Caesar’s. The last time I went there was in May 2009! How time flies!

Anyway, fast forward to the birthday bash on Sunday evening!! Hip, hip, hooray!

Birthday banner

Fiona made me this beeeeaaauuuutiiifulll banner for my birthday!!! I love, love, love the colors! They’re soooo pretty and I simply love it! Did I mention that it’s a rather significant birthday for me this year as it’s my last year celebrating asย Miss Voon and the last year of my twenties!! *Gasps*

I LOVED MY BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! โ™ฅ โ™ฅ
